Hi Larry;
Dean summed it all up perfectly, but there may be one more small step in the process that might help - That is, just before joining hull and deck, butter some thickened epoxy along the hull & deck seams near the stems(6-8") . That will insure that all bare wood is sealed and the ends are waterproofed If you mounted wood blocks in the ends, no endpour will be necessary.
