BRIAN, THE PUNGO HAS A ROUND HATCH, BUT THE DEALER TOLD ME IT'S FAR FROM WATERPROOF, SO IF I ADD A BULKHEAD I FELT I WOULD NEED TO MAKE A BIGGER(AND WATERPROOF), HATCH FOR STORAGE, RIGT NOW IT IS SMALL AND HAS A MESH BAG INSIDE.

: The picture of the Pungo on the Wilderness Systems web site shows it with a
: round hatch behind the seat. I would suggest that you contact them to see
: if you can buy a retro-fit kit, as this would be the simplest way to go.

: If a kit is not available, you could install a 3" thick minicell foam
: bulkhead using a marine sealant such as 3M 5200 or plain old silicone
: sealer. Nothing sticks very well to polyethylene, so the specific adhesive
: you use probably won't make a huge difference. You need to make the
: bulkhead a bit oversize to get a tight fit and a decent seal. A Beckson
: hatch could be installed in the deck.

: As for sources, any kayak shop should be able to get you minicell foam. The
: hatch and adhesive are available at marine dealers such as West Marine.
: They'll also have the necessary stainless screws and nuts. Beyond that,
: you need a marker, a keyhole or jig saw, a screwdriver and a wrench, and a
: knife to cut the foam. You'll also want some cardboard to make a template
: for the bulkhead. If you need to laminate or piece together the minicell
: for the bulkhead, contact cement works really well.
