: Well, perhaps not proof in the strictest sense of the word . . . This is a
: 'Vette I built from a pile of garbage, and after all the work and finally
: 12 coats of lacquer I eventually trusted the day-to-day finish to silicone
: waxes. In these photos the car is sitting about where my cedar strip
: ripping setup was . . .

: One final comment - The only tool that permitted the 3 or so vette body
: sections and my new glassing to fair out this smoothly was a sanding
: board. I recommend using one religiously . . .

Now Pardner, ya'll gonna have to ask yurself: What do ya want to do with yur Yak? Ya wants to go paddle every weekend, or does ya want to spend your time " Wax on....Wax off...." and then jes sittin' over yonder a lookin at it with them doe eyes. And threaten every varmit that comes within a gnats wisker of touchin or even breathin heavy on it. God forbid "a fingerprint!"

You can get a beautiful shine on that varnish that will last for weeks to months depending on care. Or you can go out every time you want to use it, spend an hour or so waxing it and then being way too nervous about mussin the liquid finish. You want liquid?.......Go throw it in the lake and roll it. LIQUID!! Save the wax sparkle for the next show where billions of folks will be looking and touchin and takin pictures of it. Want proof: Ask spidey how many times he's tossed that Vette in the lake and paddled it. :) He hides it in the garage and never takes it to the market, " Shopping-Cart Hell."

You have to ask yourself: Do I want to paddle it and have lots of fun, or do I want to shine it and fear the inevitable. " A Fingerprint " !!AAaaEEeeeaaahhhh!! %$(*^%$@^(*&$#@$@!^%^!!!!!!!!! Just varnish and go paddle !!
