Funny -- you're imagining a classic canoe that's a bit rough around the edges and needs a little TLC, probably like a canoe you once had, and I'm envisioning a cheap choppped-glass piece-a-crap canoe, like a canoe I once had. It had tubular gunnels that were riveted thru the chopped glass, had stamped aluminum decks on either end and squashed-aluminum-tube thwarts. 'Knightmare' did imply that it was 'glass, not strip or canvas, that it was cracked and he thought about putting another layer of glass over it.
