: An fellow at work went to New Brunswick for a week to learn how to build wood
: frame sea kayaks covered in coloured fabric which was glued and heat
: shrunk to the frame. does anyone know anything about this process, and
: what the boats are like? I've lost touch with the guy who took the course.
I'm guessing that your friend took a course with Greg Redden of Sea Fever Kayaks. I have been unable to find a web page for him in the last couple of years, but here is a URL about an award he won. The article published his phone number -- which I believe to be his business phone. (I would not give out someone's home phone number on the internet without their permission, of course)

Older links to some of his postings on this bbs have a website listed for him which is no longer active. The last time I was able to view his website he was promoting a week long kayak building course for about $1000 (Canadian) for the money you got instruction, materials, and a place to work, as well as a lot of encouragement from fellow builders. His time table set a gentle pace, but allowed for building the boat from scratch in under a week. The last day was a launching and paddling day.
If you manage to contact him, tell him to drop by this board, say hi, and leave his current webpage and e-mail address.
Hope this helps.
