Hi Greg;
With carnuba wax, ammonia in water will do a good job job of removing it. There may not be a lot left after a year, because the way carnuba works is to constantly shed its surface layer to remain slippery. I'd do it the way Mark suggested in the post above, scrub it, sand it, and scrub it again.
For silicone wax products, to be absolutely sure you get rid of it all, I agree that the automotive wax strippers would be the way to go. That's exactly what they are designed for.
