Hi Ross;
I used another technique (no photos) that I picked up from a canoe site - Allow the strip to protrude beyond the bow or stern, secure a clamp to the end, and weight the clamp handle (I just stick spring clamps on it, as many as needed) until the strip is twisted properly. It will stay twisted while you steam it, hot-air it, or glue it. Works like a charm. Be sure to support the strip at the stem with a spring clamp, so the strip doesn't bend down, only twist.
If it seems like it won't twist totally without risk of breakage, put enough weight on it as you feel is safe - I then put my hot air gun on the strip, and just like watching a thermometer in Florida, the weight will gradually (30 sec or so) twist the strip into position. When you remove the heat and let it cool, it stays put. Depending on where you heat the strip, you can even guarantee it is flush to the forms everywhere. That is, it twists where you heat it.
Hope this helps & Best Regards, Spidey
