Hi Tracy,

I paddled a Guillemot once last year and had similar impressions at first. I paddle straight tracking CLC Chesapeake 17. The Guillemot was tough to paddle straight at first but sure was fun to play in!

I found that subtle changes in paddling technique made a huge difference in the boats behavior. You might want to take a look at this article from Lightning Paddles site: http://www.paddles.com/library/straight.html
