: and repair information. It is still in great shape but came with nothing
: but the seats and seat backs. I have been using it as a canoe. Can anyone
: help with info??

Klepper has a nice website at

www.klepper.com

I can't remember seeing anything on their site about a rigid kayak, so I'm guessing they dropped it from their product line to concentrate on the folding kayaks they are most known for.

However, you can get a list of Klepper dealers from the website. Klepper has been around a long time (92 years I think) so if you can hook up with a few dealers you may find some that have parts for your boat.

Otherwise, Dave Hazen has plans in his book "The Strippers Guide to Canoe-building" that show how to add a sail and leeboards. On page 83 he quotes from an article "Sailing Equipment for the canoe," by Eric Oxelson, Vol 6, No. 9, Minnesota Canoe Association, "Hut!", August 1972:

". . . Our leeboards are from a Klepper folding boat.hey are made of 3/8 plywood, 9-1/2" wide at the lower end and 29-1/2" long overall. . . " and it goes on with a further description. there is an illustration on the facing page in Hazen's book which shows the arragnge ment of mounting the leeboards onto the gunwales of a canoe. The same simple clamping mount would hold these things to the cockpit of a folding Klepper. If the cockpit size of your boat is similar to that on a folding boat -- and I am guessng it might be close -- then you could follow the design and simply make the pieces longer or shorter as necessary.

Incidentally, I liked the simplicity of the clamp-on design and adapted something similar to hold wheels on my canoe so my kids can easily roll it to the river.

Hazen's book also has illustrations of several mast and sail configurations, and a drawing of a home-made rudder assembly that looks like it could be easy to make.

Hope this helps.

Good luck with the restoration.
