: Does anyone know of a good source for plans, or possibly a good how-to book [on Greenland kayaks]?
There's a gazillion good references out there, but you might want to start with the Fall 1994 issue of Sea Kayaker. Chris Cunningham, the editor, has a multi-page, detailed article on building a stitch'n'glue Greenlander. I've seen several boats made from --- or modified from --- this article, and they're very nice. If you want to be a purist, there are several good skin boat articles and several schools where these can be built. Skin boats are a totally different way to kayak. All the joints are alive, and the boats literally floats with the water, following its contours to an amazing degree. Lotsa choices.
