No, no picture right now. I'll see what I can do though.
Metal rivet= screws I don't know what they're called. They're not screws, cause they don't twist round. They're more like metal nails with a head on each end holding the gunwales on
The seats were canvas-covered wood (I think. Nothing left but the canvas) Metal gunwales.
Its not a wood boat, that I know for sure. the insite is patterned like cloth, which is why I thought I was fibreglass. Is there a sure way to tell?
The decks are metal and plastic, though for some reason there were wood peices underneath (now gone). Metal handles on the decks, rusted but still usable.
: Sounds like a fun project. There are a lot of people around here (St Paul,
: MN) that work on boats just like you describe and make them like new again
: ( for example http://www.northwestcanoe.com ).
: Do you have a picture you could post? We would love to see it. I can image
: most of the boat you are describing in my mind but I got confused when you
: were talking about metal rivets. The only time I have seen metal rivets
: are on aluminum canoes, or are the rivets just screws or nails? Is it a
: canvas canoe or was it a striper that was painted blue, or is it a plastic
: boat with wooden gunwales, thwarts, seats and decks?
: Any one can build a boat but it takes a lot of patients and thought to
: restore someone else's hard work carelessness.
: Good luck and let us know how it is going.
