This has been discussed a number of times. Check in the archives for discussion. if you have narrowed your choices down to a boat or 2 from each company, perhaps we can help you out more in your search.

Both companies make fine boats. The panel joints are different but nothing changing anything performancewise. CLCs may not leave a darker taped section at the joint however. Pygmy has the multichine boats for most of its line while CLC has mostly hardchine. Pygmy deck is peaked while CLC is cambered. You see more Pygmy westcoast and more CLC east coast due to manufacturer location.

Chose a design that looks good and then let us comment. Most models have been build and paddled extensively by someone. I have built CLC as well as Shearwater.
