I'm not really that worried about a visit on the water. I'd be more concerned with a visit while launching or landing.

They can't board a kayak (no room!)

We're not required to wear the PFD, just to have it handy. The fact that I always wear my PFD should tickle their fancy enough to not have reason to ask.

I made the PFD very similar to a commercial one. Unless a CG officer was an anal-retentive paddler, nobody will be the wiser. A non-paddler would never notice (who else would recognize a Lotus knockoff) and a non-anal paddler would think, "cool"!

It would be unsafe of them to ask you to remove the PFD while on the water so they could inspect it.

They'd have to be very bored to ask you to step aboard their vessel and load your kayak so they could safely look at the jacket.

As long as you follow the rules of the road, they'll be more attracted to the PWC menace.

Of course, maybe I'm just deluding myself! I hope they have internet-access in the CG brig!

Yes, I've knowingly broken the letter of the law. (It is illegal to alter a PFD/all PFD's must be approved and inspected) I don't believe I've broken the spirit of the law (my effort was to make an even safer PFD)
