Hi John,
I agree with Rehd, fill the gaps with wood slivers, it comes out a lot better!! When you make up the slivers if you pound or squash them a little before you place them they expand when you glue them. Like Rehd say's try it you'll like it! BTW if your talking small gaps, say @ 1/32" wide or less, don't bother filling them. The seal coat before glassing takes care of those and you don't get the discoloration that filling can cause of adjacent wood.
