In Response To: Cedar or cedar strip suppliers (Kevin Ferrie)

When I bought some of my timber (in Sydney)I couldn't believe the hassle. Me:"Do you sell WR Cedar?" Him:"Yep, what size?" Me:"Depends on the quality of the planks, what do you have?" He drops his pen down and looks at me like I'm the dumbest person that has ever insulted him because I walked into his timber yard looking for some timber. He tells me all the sizes as if it was more boring than doing house work. Me:"What is the colour range? Can I look at some of the planks" Him:"this is not a supermarket ya know, those flitches come from 17,000 f*#@'n miles away and I don't look through each one trying to find the nicest bit of timber for this and the nicest bit of timber for that" It went on a bit more and I can't remember what else was said but I got the timber (I wasn't sure if I could find a another supermarket close by that sold cedar) and think of him with every staple that punches a hole in my little boat. Starts with "P", and is in the inner west of Sydney.

: Hi, does anyone out there in paddle land know of a supplier of quality cedar
: or cedar strips in western Canada? I live in northern Saskatchewan and
: cedar is very tough to locate here. Any tips you may have would be
: appreciated. Thanks!
