Hey Spidey,
Of course you know I've only been using mine for a couple weeks now and only have my perception yak for comparison, but I like the yakima's. When I need to stretch my legs I can easily put my feet between them, and even paddle that way for a while. I have 3 boys, 7 to 14, and they can adjust them easily. The foot braces in my perception span from wall to wall and are nice and solid (for that 10' drop off a waterfall), but they are a bear to adjust. I don't let the kids mess with them.
I weighed in at 32lbs before foot braces, seat and varnish. 34 1/2lbs afterwards.
So long story short, I'll go with the yakima's in the future also.
: Hello All;
: Received my Yakima 14" footbraces yesterday, and they seem rather heavy
: to me. Nicely made, but probably overbuilt for the intended use. They
: weigh in at over 1.2 lbs . . . That's probably my coaming plus the two
: fiberglass hatch lips combined.
: After drilling out the threads for the through-holes. I'll also have to mill
: away a part of the channel to be able to fit in screwheads at the mount
: locations for non-through-hull mounting. Are y'all sure this is the
: footbrace you like the best?
: Best Regards, Spidey
