: Cut out the hatches yesterday. Now I have a thin white line around the hatch
: covers where the fiberglass has pulled up from the wood. About 1/16"
: wide in some spots. I thought that saturating the edges would make it
: disappear. No luck so far. Should I sand back the fiberglass? This would
: leave me with an uneven surface on the hatch covers. Any helpful
: suggestions would be appreciated.

: Thanks,

sand it back evenly and then paint the edge with regular epoxy then recoat with thickened epoxy, this will round over the edge, seal the wood grain and build it up somewhat for better wear protection.

Greg

PS: I just figured out the round over after varnishing my hatch covers which I had to wait to do as sanding the edges resulted in expossing the edge again which required any coat of epoxy on the edge.
