Spidey, Don't welcome me to the Vaclav club to quickly. I am making a stitch and glue and still have to figure out how to make it work. One idea is that to make the boat, glass the deck, and then make a mold. (Probably with cast plaster - it is pre plastered gauze strips that you just get wet and lay on.) I will make the hatch on the mold - it will be off dimensioned because of the thickness of the deck but I don't think that 4 mil. will make any noticeable difference over the 16" or so radius of the deck. I will make hatch openings of the slightly rectangular shape that CLC kayaks usually have and hope that when I turn the hatch combing sideways I can fit it in and position it correctly. I just got my stuff so it will be a bit before I get to that. I am sure I could figure out if it was possible in advance, but it will be easier to imagine with something that looks a bit like a boat in front of me. Thanks for writing and I encourage all ideas and advice since i have know idea what I am doing. Thanks, Todd
