I agree totally, yours and jims sound way simplest of all. But, but, but what about all those cent coins in my top drawer?? Inert(?) and stack like really well!!!!

Or the perfect seal (have no idea if it will really work) - Take your 1/2 full gallon can, put down layer of saran wrap and goop a bunch of silicone sealant down on top. Close the lid and swing it around your head. Open the top and check that it goes up the sides a bit and drop in a string at the side. When hard, (leave the lid off??-but try on first) pull the string and out the perfect seal comes!
