: Hi all,

: I know this is probably not the right place to post my message, but I got a
: lot of great advice when building my Chesapeake 17 last year (which,by the
: way, turned out great and is a pleasure to paddle). I'm now looking to
: build a drift boat river dory for fishing, and I need some help finding a
: reputable place for plans. Anyone suggest anyplace where I can find some?
: Preferably stitch and glue.

Hi Paul

I know of two companies who have what you may be looking for. Glen-L marine and Clark craft. I've got both of their catalogues and they have everything from 6' to 16' in fishing boats. Quite a few are stitch and glue. I'm playing with a Glen-L, "8"Ball which is a stitch and glue, 8' fishing dory. The boat is pretty easy to build, but, I have had a dickens of a time with Glen-L's epoxy in the Calif. heat. I would buy their plans, get the materials locally and order the epoxy and glass from someone else. Another note: They send their plans out folded. If You order their plans, specify that you want them shipped rolled in a tube.

Both have on-line catalogues as well as mail-order catalogues. Both have pictures of some or all of their boats built by customers so you can see what they look like finished.

Try: [clarkcraft.com ] and [ Glen-L.com ] and go from there. I have seen others from up in the northeast but, can't remember the names or addy's. I'm sure others will hook you up with them when they see your post. Hope this helps.
