After I put my varnish on with a roller, I tip it out. When tipping out, make sure to sqeeze out the brush every few minutes, maybe 10-15 times total for the hull and the sme amount for the deck, and this prevents excess varnish build up causing runs.
My first boat I didn't sqeeze the brush out and ity ran especially near the cockpit. On the second where I use the above technique, its not running at all.
