: Could i glue up stips to make a pieece about 2' wide and 19' long run a layer
: of glass on one side (the inside) and then put it on just like the okemme?
: Or is ther a reason that the okemme goes on in two pieces or a reason that
: i would not get a fair curve tourtuing my strip built sheet? Questions,
: questions, questions. Thanks, Todd

Someone -- I think it was Mike Hanks, but I could be wrong there -- followed up on a vague idea of mine to make 1/4 inch thick panels from 1/4 by 3/4 inch strips, which are edge bonded with glue, sanded flat, and then covered on the upper side with a layer of glass cloth and resin. Perhaps someone can post a picture of the resulting boat.

You can use short pieces of strips and just butt them together to make as a long panel as you can work. After the resin hardens, you cut your parts from these panels as if you were cutting them from plywood. You then install the panels with the pre-glassed side on the interior of the boat. When you add your glass and resin to the outside you are all done but for the finishing.

Some decks are amde from one wide piece of plywood which is bent over the hull in a tapering arch. Other decks are made from two or more panels which meet in the dcenter at a reidge or peak, or lead to a rather flat center panel. You can probably follow the plans from your S&G boat, but substitute a these panels of built-upo strips for your plywood. The effect will be that of strip construction, but the method of construction is the same as working with plywood.

Consider using 1/8 or 3/16 inch thick strips with 4 ounce glass instead of 3mm or 4 mm plywood.

Hope this helps.
