I have a restored 72 Westie "Yakinwagon". Although it may look a little crude I wrap foam noodles around my yak to protect both the yak and the fiberglass top; I eliminate the lateral movement by securing them to the luggage rack. I installed stainless steel eye bolts on the bumpers to secure bow and stern lines. I have hauled three kayaks this way with no problems. After searching for a good length of time for a roof rack that would fit to no avail, this is the system I use. Takes only seconds to load and unload, and yaks are protected and secure.
