Max, I am mostly through stripping a Great Auk made with recycled redwood siding. I don't know the history of the siding I used, but it was tongue and groove and had varnish on one side so it must have been used on the interior of something. The tight growth rings and complete lack of any knots or blemishes are hard to come by. My only problem is glueing scarfs. With perfect weather conditions, it takes 8 hours before I can handle the strips. On cool, humid days, it may take 48 hours. I have no explanation for this problem, but is only a minor inconvenience. The privledge of using such old trees and the free price from recycled wood only add to the fun. Mike
