Boy, you all like to scrutinize these pics, don't you? I'll have to keep a better eye out for the background from now on.

Um, well, actually they are standard 3" plastic rope cleats. My small modification is to mount them over a loop of 1/2" nylon strapping to make it easier to clip to.

I have a couple on my Coho as well as the West River shown here. I clip my paddle leash to one side and my own tether to the other side. The placement considerations include: Keeping them below the paddle swing profile so you're not banging on them, and avoiding spots where on the inside of the cockpit the nuts might conflict with your knees. Mine are about 3" or 4" ahead of my knees.
