Doug,
To get a painted mirror finish try the following: 1. Try to have a solid colored primer base coat to start with 2. Fog a light coat of a contrasting color over the base coat (a laquer spray paint works fine, this is called a guide coat) 3. wet sand with 320 grit paper, by using the contrasting color as a visual "guide" you will immediately see where you have low spots, scratched etc.
This will obviously not work for a clear finished boat although you might be able to get the light just right and see the "dimples" that represent low spots
: I am ready to begin sanding the fill coats on my Coho (at last!)
: How can I tell when I have sanded enough or better put, how to I avoid
: sanding too far?
: There is a glass seam just below the shear where the deck glass overlaps the
: hull glass. I think this is the part where the 'danger' of oversanding is
: the greatest. Any tips would be helpful.
: Thanks in advance
