Ric,
Check out my post from July 8, 2000 1:18am I think. I glued on some veneer at the bow, stern, combing and cheek plates using glue. Be careful not to overdue it with the glue as it can bleed thru the veneer. I'm happy with this process. The drawback is that you have to build up the epoxy at the edge of the veneer to get a smooth/flush finish.
