I am the kind of tortured soul who likes to do everything my self. I have a cormorant in my basement now that i shortened to 14' 6" for the heck of it. I wanted a small hard chined boat for playing in the waves. With 2 sheets of lauan $20 and $130 for fiberglass etc from raka. It should be possible to finish it for under $200 on my student's budget.

After seeing Pete Czerpak's SO's mereganser and hefting it. I am impressed by it's lightness. The building of the cormorant with deck beams made me realize how much weight they would add to a boat. My next project would be a greenland replica or a greenland style boat made from plans. I really dig the feel of a long skinny kayak like my expedition single. but I want one with a little less volume for day paddling/playing.

I have a mac and don't really have or know of any cheap (free) design software to create a multipaneled deck. I have acess to PC's but I don't know what software i could use to create the deck most of the software I have played with is for making hulls only. And boat specific CAD packages are out of the question in terms of price.

Any help for the addicted
