: ha ha ! tell us about it ! those of us here that are not "tortured
: souls", are not here any more. they are out there paddling glass or
: plastic.
: was it dean that posted his hand made life jacket ? wow, he must be a really
: tortured soul.
: hey there ! what are you talking about ?! what s/w did you played with ? let
: us know, so we will play with it too.
I played around with the Carene40 and 50 software. It is designed to make plywood transomed craft but if you make the transom size zero. it is a kayak. It is limited because you can't make an upswept transom or at an angle less then 45 degrees. but I guess if you designed a symmetrical hull you could just invert the offsets for the front of the boat. Too much of a pain. I would like to use the mariner software but i don't know if it will work with ply panels. I will check it out when I get to the PC's at school
I was just contemplating the veneer inch is foot model approach. That would be a lot of legwork that is easier and probably more accurately done first on computer and then derive a model from that data.
: what I know is the free design s/w available at mariner kayak (.com) . I've
: never played with it. actually, I've never played with any design s/w, so
: my next suggestion might be foolish, or might not: the design s/w don't
: know what are you going to do with the "hull" you are designing,
: so use your newly designed hull as deck ! I'm not sure if the measurments
: you have from your kayak's hull are enough for the s/w to create a deck,
: but you can take it from here.
: another option for the computerfobians is to design/build the deck from
: cardboard & then transfer it to plywood.
Wow that would be alot of cardboard!!!!! but doable I imagine,
Thanks
