: Bob, I know this bbs well enough that I should have started with my
: parameters. I think the second message I ever read on this board was
: "What's your height and weight and shoe size?" What I'm looking
: for is a strip-built boat to row or power, 10 HP or less, for family
: fishing--two adults and one or two kids--on quiet, Midwestern lakes and
: larger lakes like Lake of the Ozarks. Min. capacity about 1000#. Needs to
: be stable as Mama is not a great water-lover. Thanks for your sugestions,
: Tom.

Hi again Tom

I'm thinkin' that the boat for you might be a flat bottomed skiff built out of pluwood about twelve or fourteen feet long, I know that it is not a strip built boat. You will have great initial stability, with a bit of flair to the sides, you'll have good secondary stability. If you carry the rocker through the whole bottomn it will row OK, and it will go togeather fast. It will raise the D.T.I. (domestic tranquility index), and then you can build another canoe or kayak. If the spirit moves you you can go all kinds of fancy with breast hooks and quarter knees. and they motor well.
