In Response To: Cove and Bead strips (Scott Graves)

: I am just starting to build the Great Auk cedar strip kayak. I am finishing
: cutting the forms and hope to start stripping in the next two weeks. My
: question is this: How necessary is it to use cove and bead strips? Will I
: be able to make a beautiful, functional boat without the cove and bead?

YES!

Is
: the time and effort in making the cove and bead strips worth it?

Supposedly yes, but if you are good with a rolling bevel then the time may be better spent. Your time is unfortunately or fortunately free.

Spidey is the man to comment on rolling bevel vs. C&B since he bevelled and went stapelless. He has real guts though...

I am gonna go cove and bead but stapleless hopefully on my first stripper

: Thanks,
