I use the brush and squeegee for wetout and the foam roller for the fill coats. I use West System thin foam rollers only and applicator rollers from Newfounds for wetout coat. The applicator roller cover is a bristle type cover similar to a mohair cover and pricks the air bubbles as well as evening out the buildup. The foam covers from wests allow you to apply thin coats evenly and when tipped off with a foam brush (the one ross mentioned) the surface is almost as good as a varnished coat. I repeat the thin fill coats which may take 4 or 5 to get the weave filled but the extra time is worth it to have a smooth surface, that needs little sanding. My thin coats rarely take more than 3 oz. per coat for deck or hull.
