: The plans from Laughing Loon do describe building the coaming like this.
: Multiple veneers are glued over a form that matches the outline of the
: cockpit opening, and the resulting lamination becomes the vertical part of
: the coaming. (although, to conserve material, it's not exactly vertical)

Hi Ross,
What I was thinking of was eliminating the form and sortof using the natural tendency for the ply to unfold in order to hold it in place and then gluing in place. Assuming that the perim is abt 6 ft, gluing up -butt jt - a pc 4in wide by the perimeter. Steam or wet, bend in place w pcs of strips across the diameter exactly as y9u did to spread the yak apart when seaming -. Then glue and set up and the next wrap should be real easy using the first to spring clamp and glue to.
The way laughing loon does it - is the first wrap stapled to the form - how are the staples removed? how is it held? Do you glue up 12feet and wrap twice and just staple the ends. Two forms sounds cool.just use wedges.
anyway
