Thanks Andreas,

I've been looking (half-heartedly) for over a year for a source like that. Thank you for sharing it with us. I just don't want to put a clunky SS ferrule on my bird's mouth shafts!!!

: Hi everyone,

: I am also in the process of building a wooden paddle for my kayak. I prefer a
: split paddle and was looking for source for a carbon fiber joint section.
: Since my wife has a carbon fiber current design paddle, I send them an
: e-mail asking if they could supply this section of the paddle. Luckily
: they had a reject shaft lying around and I am getting two sets (two
: 6" shaft sections, the smaller shaft insert, locking pin and two drip
: rings per set) for CAN$ 25.25 + Shipping and Handling.

: They will offer this package also to other paddle builders, depending on the
: quantity of rejected shafts. If they don't have a rejected one, they will
: charge you the full amount of the shaft. I'll let you know more when I get
: the parts (hopefully in a couple days).

: Andreas
