probably nothing. whatever you do is fine. since it's a low stress area.
most of us want to be "perfect", so we patch it.
It's no big deal, but I would also recommend to patch it with 1-2" overlap.
I treat my boat really bad. I bang into anything you can imagine.
I launch from rocky places & my boat (coho) gets hit al over & it got lots of scratches & marks. I'm not worry, as long as the scratch doesn't get to the wood (it didn't, so far). I want to keep the water out of the wood (rot).
I don't work on drops with sand paper, because it will also sand a little around the place, & little by little - you get to the bare wood.
I use the front tip of a regular file. it actually scratches the epoxy, so I scratch & scratch, until it's leveled.
It's faster too.
the exact location of the scratching is easier to control with a file, than with sand paper.
