Hi All

Building the bench and cutting forms for the Great Auk, but, since I won't be able to finish it this fall, I've been considering a Skin on Frame, or Plywood on Frame ( Mike Hanks: plywood walrus ), to build in the along side of the G.A. in order to get my feet wet( sorta, kinda ) while there is good weather. After skipping through G.Putz' book, and a couple of others, and remembering conversations from past months, I am wondering about the availability of the 10oz. canvas duck. ?? I vaguely remember discussions on Polyester, nylon, and such things as that. My question is: Has anyone considered Denim? There are many grades and weights of denim available, and was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how this fabric would hold up in comparison to the Canvas. How might the cost compare with the "difficult" to find ( according to several sources )canvas? I have not looked for the canvas in our area, but, have only two "Tent and Awning" manufacturers that I know of, and just in case???? Just a passing curiousity that I hadn't heard discussed.
