Sorry, it's got nothing to do with the hold-down. What I intend to do is cut away the external reinforcement around the existing hatch, and put a lip internally similar to a flush-mount. Then add to the exterior a 3/4" x 1/4" rounded-over lip of Bubinga or some other dark wood for accent. (may have to laminate) Then, make beams so I can mold a new hatch to fit the curve. Strip the new hatch is some very light wood with little grain (Pine, white cedar? Holly?). Glass both sides, put a scrollsaw pattern into it, and fill the pattern with dark colored epoxy. I think a dragon would be cool...

Of course, if ther internal bungees on the SpringRun leak, I have a problem :)
