It's not Toronto, but Peter Shultz of Classic Boat Kits is in Dunrobin (http://www.cyberus.ca/~canoe/ ). He sells strips and might sell you the raw wood as well. If not, he might have some suggestions for sources closer to you. Good luck on your "endeavor".

: Well another message from a "newbie". I've been lurking for a while
: and have learned alot from the postings of all of the active members (not
: to mention also perusing their web sites). This June I completed a Pygmy
: Osprey Double and am about to start on my first cedar strip boat (the
: Endeavour 17 from Bear Mountain). My plan is to "do it all"
: including cutting my own strips. Can anyone tell me of a source for
: reasonably priced Western Red Cedar in the Toronto area. I am familiar
: with Noahs but was hoping to get wood more reasonably priced.
: As an aside I had the good fortune to be in Vancouver BC last weekend (after
: four days of kayaking the Broken Island group in Barkley Sound) to catch
: the Vancouver Wooden boat show. It was not as large as R2K but they had
: four diplays of cedar strip kayaks (several Spring Runs, two Endeavours
: and several Guillemots).
: thanks for your help.
