: Hi Fritz,
: Pliobond is a lot stronger than contact cement - strong enough to glue felt
: to the bottom of boots to make non-slip [on smooth river stones] soles.
It's great for gluing porous surfaces like felt and leather, which is what it's designed for.
: I used it years ago but have not been able to find any for a long time.
It's still available. Home Depot sells it, among others.
: A good alternative adhesive for gluing foam is "80010 Super Weatherstrip
: Adhesive" made by 3M. I buy mine from the local UAP store but any
: automotive supply store should carry it.
I've tried this and haven't found it to be any stronger than plain ol' contact cement when use on minicell foam, and it's much more expensive. I also found that it goes on thicker, which creates a hard, difficult to shape layer if you're laminating the foam, such as for a seat or thigh/hip braces.
