I have a 15' folding model that if I remember correctly was called a "sporty". The hull is a hypalon fabric and is extremely tough, durable, and unfortunately heavy. The deck is a light weight coated nylon fabric that has also held up very well. The boat is very sea worthy and stable, but contrary to the old advertising, is not all that easy to put together. If you could find a light weight hypalon fabric it would probably be a great choice for the hull. It is very abrasion resistant, and while it can be sliced by sharp edges it is easily patched.
