OK, the Coho is almost done...the final step is printing an image onto tissue paper, and then putting that on during the final epoxy finish coating.
So, I've managed to develop a Kwakiatul totem symbol of an Orca; I tried printing it on Sumi-e paper (a heavier version of rice paper) came out nice and sharp. Then, I tried printing on tissue paper; no matter whether I tape the paper down to a piece of paper, iron it to get out the wrinkles, only print parts of the image at one time; I get runs and splotches from the inkjet printer.
Anybody have any good tips or can provide the "voice of experience" to tell me how to avoid the ink jet splotches? BTW, the graphic image is just a little smaller than 8x14 paper, and roughly 50% black, 45% transparent, and 5% red.
I tried epoxying both the sumi-e paper and tissue paper images onto scrap wood; the tissue paper is definitely more transparent. I'm also about to try a verson with tracing paper.
TIA for any help
