My Mill Creek is finished but today I noticed some dark marks appear in the deck wood. I had the kayak turned upside down for a day and the cockpit is bad about trapping water (I did roll on one coat of epoxy on the bottom side of the deck). Because the dark marks quicky appeared I surmised that it must be water that got into the wood underneath and trapped by the finish on top. I put a few pin holes in the wood at these marks and placed a hair dryer underneath and sure enough I saw some beads of water coming out of the pin holes. No amount of drying would remove the dark marks however. Should I sand through the finish over these marks in order to release this water? This is the stangest thing.
