Hi Erez;
I think I left an almost solid layer of PR behind, it's just kinda hard to tell how thin it is. The pattern that appeared when it cured followed my brush strokes, almost like as if I were spreading streaks of wax/styrene around. It formed a texture like an alligator hide or something similar, that had to be sanded to its lowest "creases" to fair the surface. That was a LOT of work.
This is not normal, of course. The PR I got was either mixed with the wrong proportions of wax and/or styrene, or contaminated. Keep in mind my friend mixed my batch from 55 gallon drums where he works and brought me a milk-jug full . . . The local experts said they'd never seen this happen before. I just did not want to spend any more time experimenting, and decided to go with varnish. If you purchase the stuff premixed from a reputable mfr and mix it very well before use, it should self level as mine did, and then CURE that way! That was one of the benefits of using PR, very little sanding required because it levels and looks like liquid glass . . . I was supposed to be able to go to #400 wet-sand after curing. I think I was just unlucky this time.
Best Regards, Spidey
