Hello All,
Last sunday I went to "Shell Key" - that's route #35, page 190 on Nigel Foster's book: "Guide to Sea Kayaking in Southern Florida" .
that "Shell Key" is supposed to have an entrance to the pool that is inside it.
all you get is a "No Tresspassing" sign by some kind of bureau of this & that.
the entrance goes 100 feet or so into the bush, untill the bush is overgrown & progress is impossible.
anyway, the "inner pool" is overgrown too. It became just another mangrove, like millions around it.
erase that route from the book & waste your time on some other route in the keys.
I saw there a local paddler with glass (god forbid) who knew how it used to be.
I also went to the "sand bar". lots of loud music, alcohol, T&A, pot. the fun starts when the CG arrives. real fun ! don't forget the camera. 8-)
see you in dry tortugas.
