In Response To: Final Sanding Survey (Chris Casazza)
I think I used 220 on the epoxy to prep for varnish. I'm sure 120 would be fine, but it might take more coats of varnish to hide all scratches. Between coats of varnish, I used a Scotch-Brite pad to scuff-up the surface.
Chris, are you taking the boat to the Newfound Rendezvous?

: I am in the final sanding stages of my Outer Island and was wondering what
: grit sandpaper do people generally go to before varnishing. I noticed
: Green Valley Boats states on their varnishing page not to go finer than
: 120 grit paper. Other builders sometimes wet sand to 300 grit. Is this
: necessary. Any opinions?
