Spidey, For rapid removal of dust, try a leaf blower. These things move a lot of air and make a nasty job easy. In my basement I put a fan in a window and use the leaf blower to move the dust toward the window; in a few minutes the area is dust free. I dont vacuum anything much anymore. I also use mine to blow water of the car after a wash job, works better than towels. You mentioned you sanded with 320 before varnish, That seems a bit fine for good bite. You also said you varnished 2 coats without sanding between coats. I have not tried that yet, let us know how that works.
