Need footbrace advice

I was planning on mounting blocks with stainless steel t-nuts inside my kayak so that I could put in adjustable footbraces later. However, there is only one place in town that sells them and they are out of stock. I am anxious to put my deck on and I am considering putting in fixed footbraces. Will I regret this later? I haven't paddled a lot. Do people adjust their footbraces very often or do they generally just leave them in the same position. Should I just go ahead and put the deck on and put the footbraces in later (that seems like it would be a lot more difficult)?
