Oh, and I also used 15 minute epoxy from the hobby shop (not 5 minute epoxy). It still takes 24 hours to fully cure and is really strong, but allows you to continue with the other side without waiting forever.
I once put one of my hatch hooks in the wrong place and couldn't even come close to pulling it off. Luckily it didn't have epoxy under one edge. I put a paint scraper under it and had to hit it a bunch of times with a hammer to get it off. The epoxy didn't fail, the wood split apart instead.
I know some of you are getting worked up, but don't flame me if you haven't tried it (15 minute, not 5 minute). :-)
