I finished my Little Auk this summer. Hopefully will have the website updated soon. ( I changed jobs and lost access to the digital camera). I sized the cockpit as laid out in the plans, It is quite large but that means there is room for my dog to join me. I glassed the deck before creating the coaming. The first three coaming rings would not make the bend around the forward edge of the cockpit. I coated the outside of the fourth strip with MAS epoxy for extra strength and a day later was able to lay it in a contimuous strip around the coaming. I did not add knee braces. Mostly because I want the extra room to accomidate a 25 pound dog. Steve

: a recess or not; install cheek plates or use foam; laminating the coaming
: lip, and making a seat and backrest. I am not even sure whether to glass
: the deck before making the coaming or not. Nick's book addresses all of
: these issues, but this board is full of alternative ideas, and I confuse
: easily. Because he hasn't steered me wrong yet, my inclination is to
: follow the methods in the book including omitting the recess. I know this
: is no help to you, but maybe we can attract some.
