Hi Don,

Knee braces can accommodate a wide range of paddlers if they're _long_ enough. Sculpt them so they're shaped like a tunnel, running parallel to the long axis of the boat. Shorter paddlers fit the back end of the knee braces, longer-legged paddlers fit farther forward.

A backband works about as well as anything for a seat back, and can be easily adjusted with a buckle/cam.
